1. Pause and settle
Choose a safe place where you can be still for a moment. Put distractions aside if possible. You can sit, stand, kneel, or walk. Take a comfortable breath; no special posture is required.
2. Turn toward God
Begin with words such as “Father,” “Lord Jesus,” or “God, I am here.” Remember that you are speaking with someone, rather than trying to perform for an audience.
3. Say what is true
Name how you feel. You might be thankful, tired, angry, worried, or unsure. If you have hurt someone, admit it and ask for help making things right.
4. Ask, and include others
Ask for what you need. Name someone else who needs care. You can ask for healing, peace, wisdom, daily provision, and strength to do what is right.
5. Read and reflect
Read a few verses of a Psalm, or Jesus’ teaching in Matthew 6:9–13. Notice a word or thought. Sit quietly with it. Silence or a passing thought is not automatically a message from God.
6. Finish with trust
Thank God for hearing you. You can end, “Your will be done. Amen.” Choose one practical next step, such as apologizing, asking for help, or encouraging someone.
